Just so you know what kind of packing issues we are talking about, here is my mom and I’s luggage cart in Raleigh this week. Alright, let’s get started!
- Roll, don’t fold. This seems like a simple change but rolling my clothes instead of folding them has left SO much more room in my suitcase! This is a trick that will totally enable you to overpack, but still! Try it for yourself and see!
- Pack versatile options. Things like leggings can serve as comfy clothes for lounging or pants with a long top. Two in one! Wahla! Neck scarves are also WONDERFUL for this! I can pack one neck scarf and be good for an entire vacation!
- Go with minimal jewelry and wear it while you travel. This isn’t the time to jazz up everything you wear! I like to pick a few staple pieces, stud earrings, stacking rings, a watch, etc. If I know I have something extra special to dress up for I may throw in one statement necklace, but for the most part I keep it simple! I avoid it getting all tangled by wearing most of my jewelry while I travel. . .maybe minus said statement necklace ?. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am currently at Creative @ Heart and did not follow this rule by any stretch of the imagination. I said I’m still learning right??
- Use a small bag for all your cords and technology. This keeps everything contained and organized! Nothing worse than opening your bag to find a million tangled chords. I feel less stressed just at the sight of it all tucked away in a bag.
- You won’t read two books in one trip. You just won’t.
I hope this helps your next trip go a little more smoothly!
