The post you are about to read is nothing more than a random jumbling of the thoughts in my head at this current moment. You’ve been warned.
It’s Wednesday, and I just learned how to do something very important that shows how technically savvy I am.
MAKE WORDS BIGGER.
A solid year on WordPress and this has been my only complaint. How I google every single question that pops into my head, but never managed to Google this one? I have no idea! Lucky for me it was literally right in front of my eyeballs this whole time. So be prepared for lots of big bold words in the future. Try to contain your excitement.
Thought #1 (2 if you count the WordPress thing? You decide!)
It’s February and isn’t snowing. Isn’t that odd? I have to say, normally I am all for the snow but I am not hating this. I have stepped up my winter-blues-fighting-game this year and have some tips and tricks that are game changers. Mostly I have a coat that is a game changer. Stay tuned for yet another groundbreakingly exciting post on Bungalows & Olives…in the meantime read this.

I’ve made a change to my morning that is a game changer. Getting up early is the bomb. I’m just gonna say it. I know it’s not what you want to hear. I know you want someone to tell you to continue sleeping in. I know, because I wanted the same thing just a few short weeks ago.
Life was feeling rushed. I wasn’t abnormally busy, nothing crazy had changed but, I just felt like I was always in a hurry. I felt like I was late everywhere…correction, I was late everywhere. I felt like I didn’t have time for the things I wanted to fit in my day, but we all have the same amount of hours as T-Swizzle (more motivating to me than Beyonce). After giving it some thought, I realized 2 things. (1.) I am more “on my a-game” in the morning. My mind is sharper, I am more productive, etc. (2.) I am useless past 9:30pm. It’s just a thing. So about 4 weeks ago I set my alarm for 6:00am Monday morning and things have changed ever since. Having just a few more hours in the morning to study and work on emails has been supaa great. More morning tips here!

Woah. Audible. I have wanted to try Audible.com for years and years, but always put it off because “I can get free audiobooks from the library!”, which is true. But I don’t. I just don’t end up going. Audible is a website run through Amazon, and an app that allows you to listen to audiobooks from your phone or any electronic device. They have most books imaginable and I am hooked. Check it out and get a free trial here!
Thought #4
I’ve been hanging out in Romans 8 a lot lately. It seems like every day no matter what I am studying, I just keep coming back to Romans 8, and in each verse it feels like there is a whole new topic to tackle and unpack truths in. I’ve been really struck by a lot of things, but today I’m thinking about this: “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on things of the Spirit. For to set the mind the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace” (verse 5-6) and then down a few verses is says “those who are in the flesh cannot please God”. This was a huge reminder and almost wake up call for me. Because here is the thing, we aren’t of the flesh! It says that right in verse 9. We are children of the living God, set apart as a holy nation, a chosen nation. Earth is only temporary, but both Matthew 6:21, and Luke 12:34 both remind us that where we build up our treasure, is where our heart also will be. Am I building up earthly treasures or heavenly treasures? Something definitely worth thinking about. I would highly recomend checking out Timothy Keller’s book “Counterfeit God’s” for more on this topic, it was a very impactful read for me.
So that is all for today folks! I hope you enjoyed this peek into the many thoughts in my brain today! Have a wonderful day!

I can relate SO much to all of these thoughts. Thanks for sharing! I too have been waking up just ten minutes earlier to stretch + drink warm lemon water ? #gamechanger. Also, if you’d like snow, come on over to Saginaw! Also, also…isn’t Paul’s letter in Romans THE BEST?! So much to study, and meditate on

So happy we are in the same boat! Yes!! Even just 10 minutes makes a difference!! Stretching is the beeeesssttt, I need to make more time for it! I was cracking up because it was snowing tonight, I’m convinced I jinxed it! And I’m basically obsessed with Paul, all of his letters are SO rich!!

Now that I work from home, I’m feeling the need to figure out a morning routine. I’ve never been a morning person, but I’m noticing the same thing! I’m pretty much spent by noon and useless for the next few hours… unfortunately I get another big dose of adrenaline around 8pm… but I keep wondering if getting up earlier wouldn’t be a great idea. 🙂

I am always so surprised how big of a difference a solid morning routine makes now that I work from home to! I totally would have thougth self-employment meant sleeping in, and I actually wake up earlier now than ever! Once I hit 2pm I am useless so I have to make sure I get stuff done while I’m “in the zone”! I know a lot of creatives are night owls! I can’t ever shut my brain off! 🙂
