Hey friends! Back with another hair tutorial today! This is one of my favorite ways to curl my hair when I am going with a middle part! It is a nice relaxed way to do curls and just gets better as the day goes on! I’m all about volume so I’ve also included a few ways I get my hair a little higher to heaven! I recorded a video which you can see at the bottom of the post for another visual! I like to start by spraying some Root Pump at my roots. This one is technically for wet hair, but I cheat and use it on dry hair! I just make sure to rub it into my roots really well! Alright, so this is a pretty straight forward curl, but with a twist!
Step 1: Take about a 2 inch section of hair and slide the curling iron about half way down the shaft. Roll it back up to the roots. Hold for about 5-10 seconds depending on how hot your iron is.
Step 2: Unroll the curling iron slightly, slide it down to the bottom and roll back up. Hold it here again.
Step 3: (the twist! Suprise!) Keeping the iron clamped at the bottom of the hair, unwind your hair from the iron and pull down slightly as you release it. This relaxes the curl and gives it more of a “wave” look.
Step 4: Hold onto the curl with one hand and use the other hand to pinch and pull individual strands up and out. This will add volume and keep it from being too structured.
Once I’ve done an entire layer of hair, I like to take some texturing powder (my favorite product ever!!) and dust it in. Texturizing powders add thickness and grit to hair so it holds shape better. The more you rub it in the bigger your hair gets! My dream!! If your hair starts getting life-less throughout the day, just ruffle your fingers through it and it will kick back in! Lately I’ve been loving this one by Kristin Ess (mostly because I love her)!
Here’s another look!
Once I get to my bangs I like to wrap them backward around the iron away from my face. I only hold them for a few seconds so they don’t get too tight of a curl. After you are done give it a good spray down with some hairspray! Again, I’m loving the Kristin Ess one, it holds nicely without making your hair crunchy! I like to fluff my hair as I spray to give it some more volume. I even flip my head upside down and give it a good spritzing. 🙂 To get even more serious about the volume, I like to add more texturizing powder to my roots. This really comes in handy if you have lots of heavy hair like me! A little dusting on the top and I’ve got volume all day! Plus it keeps my bangs in place! Tada! Here is a video walk-through!
Hope you enjoy!
