A long time ago on a Wednesday I jotted down a few thoughts on my blog and ever since, it seems to be a thing that happens every so often! These posts aren’t fancy, they aren’t very organized, and they aren’t anything special. Just the thoughts going through my head on a given Wednesday. So let’s do this thang!
The Dance, Stand, Run Launch Team and how you are the girl for the job.
When I started attending Bible Study Fellowship (if you aren’t attending, please consider finding a local group here, it truly is a life changing organization) something started stirring in my heart about the way we are called to live in the world, but not of it. I started noticing areas of my life that needed to change, gray areas that weren’t pretty and needed redemption. I started wanting to talk about it with others, but quite frankly, it’s a messy topic and one that has to be approached carefully. I am a long time fan of Jess Connolly, so when I heard she was writing a book about this very topic, I knew she would write on this topic beautifully. I am so thrilled to be a part of the launch team for this book (I’m the person who sat with her email open at exactly 3pm so that I could be in the first 1,500 to click the sign-up link). We have been receiving the book chapter by chapter to read before the release and I am feeling stirred up all over again. I am giddy with excitement and joy to see this book hit the shelves because in just the few chapters I have read so far, I can already tell this is a book our generation needs.
Anyway! This week on a live stream for the launch team she was talking about feeling unqualified for the call God has given you. Sometimes God calls us to small steps and other times big moves, whether small steps or big moves they can be terrifying. I personally have been battling some fears of inadequacy and unworthiness to pursue dreams that the Lord has laid on my heart, Jess’s Livestream was just what my heart needed to hear. In case you are feeling some of these same fears, I want to pass it along. Her message was this: you are just the girl for the job. Whatever life stage you are in, whether you hate it or love it, whatever position God has put you in or is calling you to, you are just the girl for the job. If you are feeling incapable, weak, or unworthy, remember that His spirit will fill in any gaps and give you what you need in order to do what He has called you to. You, by His strength, are just the girl for the job.
I hope that someone reading this can be as encouraged as I was by those few simple words.
Dunkirk
Let’s talk about something less deep shall we? Have you seen the movie Dunkirk? I went and saw it last week before we left town and holy cow. It is intense! But so good! I love anything by Christopher Nolan and this didn’t disappoint! I am always blown away by how unique each of his movies are! I don’t know how that guy comes up with so many different ways to film a movie, but I’ll take it! There is almost no character development, it just purely tells the true story. With that said, if you like movies that have you holding your breath for 2 hours (I happen to ?) then check it out!
I need a new book to read
This summer I decided to put a hold on reading business books. I usually devour them, but felt the need to take a step back and implement some things before continuing to consume information. This has been super helpful and cleared up a lot of brain space, but now I am in desperate need of some new book recommendations! I am looking for something fictitious and light hearted! I just finished Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine and really enjoyed it (though it is quite sad…maybe I need a beach read next?). With a few weeks left of summer I am out of ideas and would LOVE suggestions! Let me know in a comment below!
Happy Wednesday!
