I am a technology person. I’ll own up to it. I would rather buy a new iPhone than new decor, and use apps more than I use makeup (but don’t get me wrong I still love makeup;) ). I have mentioned before how I am constantly blown away by the amount of free educational resources in the world! Today I’m sharing two apps I use every morning before I get out of bed… or at least that’s the goal. If you are wanting to do some studying keep on reading!
Scripture Typer App
As a believer I think memorizing scripture is of extreme importance. I think having the Lord’s word tucked in your heart is one of the best ways to allow Him to speak into your life. I can’t tell you how many times I have been in stressful or emotional situation and a verse that I memorized in Sunday school as a child comes to mind bringing with it peace and comfort.
The downside is that I am actually terrible at memorizing scripture. It’s hard right?! I longed for my repertoire to be larger than my childhood education, but tried strategy after strategy and never found one that worked…until this app!
Scripture Typer allows you to create a collection of verses you want to memorize. Then once you go in to memorize a verse it has you type out the first letter of each word of the verse, over, and over, and over, until you get the hang of it. For me, I have found this to be the most effective way of memorizing scripture. It reminds you to practice with daily notifications and keeps track of which verses you are struggling with. This has been a game changer for me! Over the last two years or so that I have been using this app I have memorized over 50 verses. For a girl who struggles with memorization, I see this as a huge improvement!
There is a free version of this app that let’s you store up to a certain number of verses, but after a few months I did end up upgrading to the pro version.
You may have heard of this one because it is a little more popular! If you have been wanting to learn a new language, this is the app for you! I have always wanted to speak french, and even took several Rosetta Stone classes in high school, but never felt like I learned anything! Duolingo is an app that makes learning a new language easy with short daily lessons.
I have only been using Duolingo for 2 months and have already found that I am able to put together a full sentence. From the little research I have done, it seems that language teachers often agree that this is an effective way to learn a language; however, I’m sure there are better ways. To be realistic, I am probably never going to take lessons, live abroad, or study it too in-depth, so I am satisfied with just learning some basic knowledge of the language! Duolingo offers so many different courses of all different languages.
Duolingo is also free! There is a paid version, but I have gotten along just fine with the free version!
Have you tried either of these apps? What apps are you loving these days? Comment and let me know!
