Hey Friends!
Can you believe it is already August? This year is flying by!! Between wedding season for work, my 3 best girlfriend’s weddings, and planning my own wedding it feels like each day rushes by me before I even have time to blink! Don’t worry, I’m still enjoying it! Actually, really enjoying it! Truthfully this has been one of the most fun and exciting seasons of my life.
I’m always trying to get one step closer to (the never actually attainable) balance! With a job which is busiest in the summertime, I’ve had years where I’ve practically missed summer from a personal standpoint. But this year, I’m thankful that the Lord has carved out a path for me to savor this season. Our team has grown, we’ve streamlined our systems (now one of the things I am most passionate about in business), and we’ve learned our limits. It’s allowed us to be 100% present with our clients when we are working, and also 100% present with our families and friends when we aren’t working. This is a gift I won’t soon take for granted!
With all these exciting life events I’ve been wearing my fair share of summary dresses! This is usually my preference in the summer anyway. I’m all about being a little extra fancy so I’ll take any reason to dress up! Rehearsal dinners, bachelorette parties, showers, alllll the things! I picked this dress up at Old Navy at the beginning of the summer and it has been in heavy rotation! I wore it out the other day with Meg, and then also wore it to her Bridesmaid Brunch so there are pictures in this post from both of those days!
I have been LOVING the trend of midi length dresses and skirts. In case you didn’t hear me the first time LOVING IT!! Seriously, why did this not happen sooner and can it stay this way forever??? Mini dresses got. to. go. Who feels comfortable in a short dress anyway? Personally, they make me self conscious, unable to move freely, and seem to be more work than they are worth!
Midi dresses, however, are flattering on any shape (even short girls! I’m only 5.4’’). They are easy to move in, comfortable to bend down in, pick up rids in, or even run around and dance in! But most of all, I love how timeless and classy they are. They remind me of the vintage silhouettes of 50’s dresses.
This dress, and one I picked from the Gal Meets Glam Collection, have been my go- to dresses this summer! I love that I can throw them on with sandals and head to a park with Dan, but otherwise with heels and out to dinner. I just can’t get enough of them!!

Midi length dresses and skirts may not be “trendy” forever, but they have truly changed what I look for in a dress, they won’t be leaving my closet any time soon! Shop some of my other favorites below!
