One month down, 11 more to go! This year is already flying by! Here is what I have loved this month!
Gnocchi & Ramen
The fanciest and the cheapest noodles on the planet. What can I say, I love a juxtaposition! I love ordering Gnocchi in restaurants (one of my very favorite foods), but did you know that Trader Joes sells it for $1.69 a pack?? SO GOOD. I like to boil it a little longer than the directions say, and then sear it in a hot pan with butter to get the outside a little crispy. Heavenly.
Also. Bring. me. da. butter.
When I’m not feeling that much effort – RAMEN NOODLES. I haven’t eaten much ramen until this month but happened to grab a pack and let’s just say- I understand why college students love it so much. So cheap. So good. Throw a little soy sauce in there if you are a sodium addict like me.
Italian Sweet Cream Creamer
I’m back to my bad habits. I have always drank my coffee black. Creamer wasn’t in my life until about 2 years ago when my cousin introduced me to this magical stuff and when I buy it I have no self control. Well, this month I bought it and… let’s just say someone needs to stop me from buying it again or I will drink all the hydrogenated oils the world can offer me.
Philippians
This month I’ve been reading through the book of Philippians slowly….like super slowly. Either a verse or small paragraph each day and I am loving it! The last few years I’ve done reading through the Bible in a year plans and while I love them – I have a tendency to speed read rather than slow down and truly soak it up. I often end a day unable to recall what I read to begin with. This year I was feeling convicted to slow my reading time down and I started with Philippians. I may just start right over again in February. This book holds so much wisdom, encouragement, and just TRUTH. It’s been so good for my heart, and so good for my mind that likes speed.
EOS Chapstick
If I was on a deserted island and could only have 3 things, EOS chapstick would ABSOLUTELY be one of them. It is the only chapstick I have used for the last 4 years and I swear by it. Well this month I happened to buy a different kind of chapstick on a whim. I used it for the whole month and it has reassured me of my love for EOS. Nothing else compares. In this arctic tundra I aint got time for anything but EOS!
Taking time on goals
You know that I love me some goals. Goal setting (and achieving) is one of the things that motivates me most in life (I’m an enneagram 3 if you haven’t guessed it by now). I have used Powersheets for the last several years and pride myself in my ability to think quickly and decisively about goals.
Welp, sometimes that’s not a good thing! Ha! This year (in light of studying the enneagram) I’ve learned how hesitant I am to actually sit with hard questions and think and pray slowly. I don’t like to be still, I like to get things done. This year I dedicated the entire month to setting goals, rather than a few days before the New Year. It has challenged me in new ways, and slowed me down in a way that has been so needed. Similarly to what I said about reading my Bible, my tendency is to rush yet in slowing down the Lord has given me so much more clarity. If you are feeling rushed to set goals, it may be worth it to slow down and take the pressure off yourself. It has been a challenging, but such a blessing to really sit on hard questions and evaluate my heart and mind in light of what I want this year to look like.
Dan & our apartment
Lastly, you had to know this was coming. My first month of marriage- OBVIOUSLY it’s a favorite month for sure! Dan truly is the best and I’m pinching myself daily that I get to do life with him!
What were your favorite things this month? I’d love to know in a comment below!
