Does anyone else seem to struggle this time of year when it comes to clothes? It’s cold, I’m not leaving the house a whole lot, and I tend to loose fashion inspiration. I have a track record of making poor purchasing decisions this time of year (not getting wear or buying the right things) and so this year I just decided to *loosely* give up shopping for a while. This was partially accidentally and partially intentional but however it came about – it was really freeing to give it a name and let it rest. I’m not shopping right now. End of story.
It doesn’t really make sense in my mind to shop this time of year. Spring clothes are out, but it’s still cold outside. Any winter purchases will be short lived, but any spring purchases are pre-mature. Besides, it’s good for the budget. In the meantime I’m contently outfit repeating, wearing what is coziest and comfiest multiple days in a row. On day’s where I have meetings or Bible study I break out the jeans and try to put something together. It usually looks something like this.
In the fall I put this outfit together (and shot these very old pictures) and never shared them so I thought now was the perfect time! Dan has had this sweater for a while and I had been looking for something similar when he finally said “why don’t you just try mine on”. Genius. I love it! I’ve worn it more than he has since! The shoulders and a little wide and the sleeves a little long (both issues fixed by rolling up the sleeve a bit) but other than that I actually prefer the fit over women’s sweaters! It also gives a little wiggle room to layer a long sleeve underneath – perfect for extra warmth! I can’t link the exact one because it is a few years old, but dig through your husbands closet – you might just find a gem!
You’ve heard me rave about these jeans enough so we’ll skip them and talk about the shoes.
THESE SHOES. I bought them in December after eyeing them for about a year and they probably topped the year as my favorite purchase. I love them so much! The classic, slightly vintage style of the cap toe and block heel make my heart literally happy every time I see them. Silly but true! I find any excuse I can to wear them and love the way they dress up a simple outfit. They are also a low block heel making them easy to walk in and comfortable!
