This week I want time to move a little slower, my mind to be a little more grateful, and my actions to show a little more love. I’ve been brainstorming a few ideas of activities to slow your heart and mind down this week.
Playing Card Games
Dan and I recently bought Phase 10 and it has quickly become our favorite pass time. It’s great for 2 players or a group and it certainly replaces zoning out in front of the tv all night.
Playing the Piano
This makes me so thankful every time I sit down!! I may not be the best, but I truly love playing the piano. Side story: I grew up with a piano in the house and taught myself a bit here and there and as an adult took lessons for a while. When Dan and I bought our house I immediately started talking about getting a piano but knew it would be a while. Well, a few weeks back I was out of town for work for the day and Dan texted me saying there was a surprise when I got home. When I got home there was a piano in our front living room (the room still under construction)!!! To say I was shocked would be an understatement, I burst into tears! It was Dan’s grandma’s and his dad brought it into town. Dan rallied a few friends to help him move it into our house. None of it was planned, it happened suddenly that afternoon and it literally felt like a gift from God! He sees and remembers our desires! Anyway, playing piano (or any instrument) is the best way to de-stress and unwind. It is also a perfect opportunity to offer praise to the Lord.
Reading
Swap your phone for a book. To make it even more special I love putting on some soft music, pouring a glass of wine, and making a night of it. I’m currently reading this (perfect for the holiday season) and this (about building habits).
Calling your loved ones
This week I want to be intentional about checking in with friends and family. Make a few phone calls and chat for as long as you like. Think of a few people you’d love to connect with this week and decide on a few times throughout the week you are going to dedicate time to it.
Puzzles Puzzles Puzzles
Something about the holidays just makes me feel the need to do a puzzle. I rarely do them in one setting, I like to leave it set up on the kitchen table. No one can resist walking by a puzzle table without sneaking at least one piece in!
Now tell me your ideas!! I want to hear em!
