We are so excited to be expecting baby number 2! Boy oh boy has it been a whirlwind of a pregnancy so far but we are endlessly grateful to be where we are and to celebrate this new life.
If you read my blog post this summer or kept tabs on my Instagram you’ll know I had a pretty scary hospital stay in July, and I actually was pregnant during that. I ended my pregnancy with Virginia on a ventilator and started my pregnancy with this baby on a ventilator. Let’s…uh…not make this a habit from now on, okay? 😉. Oddly enough neither instance were because of pregnancy, but my body is always kind of a wild card. That said, the baby is still healthy and whole and I truly don’t even have words to express my gratitude for that.

My first trimester this time was quite different than my first time around. With my first I actually had quite a bit less nausea than I normally do day to day, however I was TIRED tired tired. This time around I was nauseas from about 4.5 weeks on! It didn’t let up until 12 weeks on the dot. I am always on nausea meds but we did increase them after the GI tear to minimize vomiting, and it did help substantially! It’s times like these that I’m very thankful to be TPN dependent because I know the baby and i were both getting what we needed nutritionally even though I wasn’t really eating. In addition to the nausea I had some pretty substantial recovery to do from the hospital stay so it’s hard to tell what symptoms were from which.
All that said, this pregnancy has been truly so joyful because I know what being a mom is like and how much I love it. With your first you can’t even comprehend how much you will love your child and how much joy they will bring into your life. It’s so hard to picture something you’ve never experienced. This time I already feel so connected to the baby and cannot wait to hold it in my arms. I already know that being a mom brings me more joy than anything else I’ve experienced in this life and I am so thankful for the gift to do it.
