Long time no hair tutorial, am I right?? To be honest, I used to shoot these myself using a tripod and remote. The. struggle. was. real! The hairstyle would take me 10 minutes, but the shooting would take 2+ hours!! Now that I’ve got Meg helping me out I’m hoping these will become a more regular occurance!
We’ve all cut bangs at some point thinking they would be a good idea (and maybe they were for a while??) but then you wanted to grow them back out! So therefore we’ve all been in that awkward “too long for bangs, but too short for layers” stage. Enter: braids!! This is one of my go to hairstyles, but especially when I’m mid way through growing out bangs! It’s quick, easy, and doesn’t have to be perfect to be cute! (or maybe thats just my excuse ?).
Step 1: Start by brushing out your hair and sectioning off your bangs + a little extra hair right at the side of your part.Step 2: Split this main section into 3 smaller sections and begin a dutch french braid. If that sounds tricky, don’t worry it isn’t! Take the front (the piece closest to your face) piece and cross it under the middle piece. Then take the back (furthest from your face) piece and cross it under the middle piece.Step 4: Add a small amount of hair (from the front of your head) to the front piece and cross it under the middle piece. Then take the back piece and cross it under the middle piece without adding hair to it. Step 5: continue this pattern till you reach your ear.
-add hair to the front piece.
-cross front piece under middle.
-cross back piece under middle.Step 6:Â Once you reach your ear pause, hold the braid with one hand, and pull each piece of the braid apart a little. Try to grab individual little pieces rather than the braid as a whole.
Step 7:Â Coninue braiding without adding any hair for a few more inches.
Step 8: Tie it off with a clear elastic Step 9: Go back through and pull apart even more.If a little piece wants to stick straight up, no worries! You can bobby pin it back down!Â
Step 10:Â Lift up a top section of hair near the back of your head (you can tease it a little if you like to add volume) and bobby pin the braid under it.TADA!!!If you want to turn it into a pony tail gather all your hair up in a hair tie!Pull your hair away from the hair tie to add a little volume.Grab a tiny section of hair from the underside of the ponytail and tease it to add texture.Wrap it around the base of the pony tale and pin it in place at the underside of the pony! Give it a little fluff!Break your comb in the process if you like.TADA PART 2!
I hope you enjoy this quick and simple look! Let me know if you give it a try!Â
