Merry Christmas Eve! It is one of my favorite days of the year! I hope your day is filled with family, food, and the peace of Christ. I’ll admit, I’ve been a little distracted this year. Not by anything in particular, just the normal busyness of the season. This morning I accidentally work up quite a bit before my alarm and was at first annoyed, but then God used those extra few minutes to refocus my heart. I’m so thankful He did – I needed it.
He reminded me that His mercies are new every morning, and Christmas Eve is not too late to set my heart in the right place. A few minutes to focus on Him and quiet all my little anxieties was just what I needed. He is so sweet to us. It is truly incomprehensible that an all powerful God came to earth to be with us.
So no matter where you head is at today, I hope you’ll join me in taking a few minutes (whether it is time in the Word, or just a few deep breathes of prayer) to focus on Him, and thank Him for the miracle of Christmas.
Today I’m going to spend the day with my mom, watching Christmas movies, baking kringle, and doing some last minute wrapping. This evening we are hitting both families houses (I’m so thankful Dan’s parents & my parent’s live within 5 minutes of each other!) and then heading to the candlelight service at our church. Growing up, my church never had a Christmas Eve service, so I’m really excited to go to this with Dan at the church we’ve been attending since we got married.
This outfit has been a favorite of mine for a bit and I’ve been excited to share it on the blog! It’s exactly what I’ll be wearing today! (Well…for the later part of the day…I’ll be in Christmas jammies until then). I fell in love with this dress at Loft (my sister Audrey actually picked it out and I copied her – what are big sisters for?). The nice thing about Loft is things ALWAYS go on sale, so I waited until it was 60% off then pulled the trigger. It’s never worth buying from them full price. Short sleeves don’t normally work this time of year but we’ve actually been having a really mild winter. I bundled it up by adding a long coat and fur scarf.
These boots are usually over the knee but I wanted a little gap between the top of the boots and the bottom of the dress so I just folded the boots down from the top (and kind of tucked it inside) and it worked just fine!

Merry Christmas friends! I hope you have the warmest of holidays!
“because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
Luke 1:78-79
