It has been a hot minute since I’ve done a book update! I always love writing these posts and I didn’t notice it had been so long! I keep a list of books on my phone that I want to read, and that I’ve finished reading! It helps immensely with keeping track of other people’s book recommendations, or being able to make recommendations myself. That said, I’ve added at LOT to the list since my last update so I’m going to split it into a two posts (fiction & non fiction) and just touch on my favorites!
I usually read primarily non-fiction, but lately have been trying to even the scales. I like having a book to turn to that doesn’t make me think as hard. It is more relaxing and I prefer to read it before bed! Lately I’ve found several fiction books that I loved!
In my opinion, this is the most under-hyped book ever. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it! I think it is on my “favorites ever” book list, I was absolutely blown away by how good it was. I am a lover of Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, and other classic magical tales. This fit perfectly into that category while being SO unique and unlike anything I’d ever read. I listened to the audio version and loved it, not surprising as it is done by Jim Dale. It takes a minute to get into the story, but stick with it, you won’t regret it!
This book was charming and adorable! Again I did the audio version right around the holidays and got through it so quickly! If you are looking for something lighthearted but intriguing this is it!
There is a reason people are talking about this book! It’s so cute!! I haven’t gotten through a fiction book (in paperback) that fast in a long time! I cheated and saw the movie first, but ended up loving the book even more (#classic). I took it with me on my honeymoon and flew through it! I give it two thumbs up! I will admit though, I was disappointed in the sequel. I couldn’t get through the second one and ended up putting it down. Have you read it? Should I power through?
This book is a totally different category than the others on this list, but so beautiful! It is heartfelt, powerful, and thought provoking! Warning: don’t listen to it while cleaning out your closest. I did and almost got rid of everything I owned except for a pair of overalls and one “good church dress.”
When I think about it, I don’t actually remember what I liked about this book… but I did! The story keeps you on edge, so I read it really quick! If you are looking for a mystery to suck you in without freaking you out too much, this is the one for you!
Soon I’ll recap my recent non-fiction reads! In the meantime, what fiction novels have you been loving? I need to add a few more to my list!
