December is here. Take a deep breath in and just let that settle. We are in the last month of the year! Raise your hand if that came way too quickly?
December is my very favorite month of the year. The snow, the joy, the celebration of another year. It is a time to slow down and breath deeper. A time to cuddle with your puppy, and drink hot chocolate with your loved ones. December gives me all the feels. It feels like every year the reason we celebrate becomes even more real. The stress and chaos of the world grows greater, and the peace of Salvation rises to match it. To outweigh it. There is hurt, and this year may not have been an easy one for you or ones close to you. But our God has already won the battle. He has rescued us, redeemed us, and called us out of the evil and into the light. He has come!! He is here!! He is dwelling with us in this very moment. This is why we celebrate. Accomplishments and blessings are reasons to celebrate to, but we are here because He came first to pave a way for us. A perfect and blameless Son entered into our world to call us home. We can enter into a life with Him because He has made us pure in the eyes of the Father. December is the end of the year, but Christmas is the beginning of the story. The story where broken people in a hurting world are called children of God. How can this be? How can we be so blessed? Praise the Father that the prophecies came true. Praise the Father for rescuing us.
“Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name, make known His deeds among the peoples, proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing praises to the Lord, for He has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth” – Isaiah 12: 4-5
Each post this month I will be sharing a favorite part of the season. My hope in this is to truly be able to savor each moment and create memories with each of them. The decorating, gift giving, and Christmas cookie eating. This may all seem simple and superficial, but it is more than that. For me, it is a way to celebrate the gift we were given. I think sometimes it is easier to slow down and appreciate each blessing this time of year. So while we should be doing that every day, let’s take advantage of the seasonal reminder. Wishing you a sweet and blessed month!
