GUYS.
I’M MARRIED.
Can you believe it?? I can!! Nearly 8 weeks ago Dan and I got married, went on our honeymoon and came home to move into our first apartment! It has been the best.
I’m sure there will be a giant blog post or several smaller blog posts to come about our wedding, but for now all I will say is that it was even more amazing than we could have dreamed. It truly is every bit as happy as everyone says it will be, and celebrating with our loved ones left us in complete gratitude. Dan is the best. Marriage is the best. The end.
We are slowly getting settled into our home and loving every bit of it. I knew I would love decorating it and settling in, but I had no idea how much. I have so much to learn about interiors and I find myself putzing and rearranging things in my mind all the time, dreaming up the best ways to make our space homey, charming, and functional. We truly love our apartment and are thankful we (well actually Meg) found it a day before we were planning on signing on a far less lovely apartment haha! The space is darling on it’s own, so I am doing my best to play off the historic and warm design it naturally has. We are so thankful for people who have generously helped us furnish and fill it. We truly have the most amazing community around us.
As we are looking at the year ahead we are filled with anticipation and excitement for all it holds. We already are giddy about how much more time we have together (saving over an hour of drive time each day to see each other as well as mornings and other time we wouldn’t have ordinarily spent together) and even things like driving to church together rather than separately have us saying “GUESS WHAT, WE’RE MARRIED!!!!” We are doing our best to soak up this sweet season as newlyweds and savor the memories we are making.
I’ll be the first to admit, January was a long month! Between Dan and I both getting sick promptly after our honeymoon and surviving a Polar Vortex that had all of Grand Rapids off the roads – I have been getting some serious cabin fever! I am excited that February is here, I can get back to spending time with my people and working from coffee shops!
That said, with many days indoors it was a fun month for my business! Winter provides a smaller amount of weddings and photo sessions; therefore, we take advantage of this time by working on the back end of things! We are cleaning up workflows, tying loose ends, and goal setting for the year ahead. We’ve been reviewing all the metrics and data, and dreaming about where we want to go in the next 12 months, 3 years, etc!
One of those things is to Creative at Heart! Ya’ll know I love Creative, but this year is especially exciting as I will be there as an educator! I am teaching a breakout session all about systems and processes – organization station! I. can’t. wait. I have always dreamed of this opportunity and I can’t wait to share some tricks I’ve learned along the way with other business owners!
Thanks for following along as I jump head first into this new season! Blogging is such a fun way for me to document and savor all that life has in store!
