Hey Friends!
Wowwy wow wow. In just a short time, so much has changed since my last blog post! And life has been GOOD.
December
Ya’ll know the holidays are my favorite time of year, but Christmas of 2017 will forever hold my heart. Meet my new Fiance Daniel. Isn’t he cute?
On Christmas Eve this handsome fella popped the question and I didn’t have to think a second before saying “yes!”. . . Okay I may have started with “are you serious??” but “yes!!!!” definitely followed! 😉 I can’t believe I get to spend the rest of my life with such an amazing man. My mom put it perfectly when she said the other morning, “he is the answer to so many prayers.” A whole post dedicated to the proposal is coming soon!
With the proposal being on Christmas Eve we were able to spend the Holidays soaking it in and spending time with family before feeling the need to start wedding planning. It was perfect and I will treasure that week forever.
January
January was surprisingly busy! We dug into wedding planning and booked the first few things. It was so crazy and fun touring venues and talking to photographers knowing it’s actually for MY wedding! I spend all of my work days planning weddings, organizing timelines, chatting with brides and vendors, etc. It being “my turn” feels so surreal! I have to admit, even with weddings being my job I don’t want planning mine it to consume the next year of being engaged. I want to enjoy soaking up the season with Dan. The wedding is fun, but it isn’t what this is about, it’s about marrying Dan and I want to keep that in perspective. Friends and family, feel free to hold me accountable to this! 😉 With that said…I may have taken it too far and need to kick my hiney in gear and make some decisions! I know more than anyone that things book up fast so it’s time to get things moving!
January was also a surprisingly busy work month! When I tell people I’m a wedding photographer they usually follow up with “so do you not have to work in the winter,” and while I wish that were true, I normally chuckle! Wedding season is so crazy that off season is the time to systemize, organize, catch up on bookkeeping, and prepare for the season ahead! It is also usually the time when we are booking weddings for the following season or two so days are filled with emails, consultations, and phone calls! Ya know what? I love it. These are actually some of my favorite tasks and I love being able to dedicate full days to it!
February
February is flying by!! It’s actually scaring me and I want time to slow down!! Work has stayed busy, and we welcomed a new baby into the family! One of my sisters had her 5th, bringing Dan and I’s neice and nephew count to a combined total of 18. Let me tell you what, it’s the best!!! Dan and I love having so many nieces and nephews, it makes life so fun!!
I’ve spent the last couple weeks working, making wedding plans, and snuggling cute babies!! I’d be good if this was our new normal!
Over at KGP we also just brought on a new associate photographer! Dan’s sister, Jenny, who is an incredibly talented wedding photographer and I’m so thrilled that she is joining our team for 2018! Who knew this year would mean gaining her as a sister and associate, I’m the luckiest!
Overall I’d say 2018 is off to a great start! This year already I’ve gained new family, new team members, and the rest of the year will hold marrying the most wonderful man, moving out, and starting our life together. Crazy to think about all of that! The Lord is so good and I can’t wait!
