Let the fun begin!!! Our whole planning process I said I wanted our reception to feel like a mix between a fancy Christmas gala, and a cozy dinner with your family. We toured lots of different venues but when I saw the marble walls and pillars of the McKay Tower Ballroom I was sold. They also included tables, linens, and beautiful chairs in their rental so that was a big win.
We wanted things to be festive without being obvious Christmas colors so we stuck with gold, grey’s and greens. We brought in pops of red in small unexpected ways. My mom had the idea of adding small trees to a few of the tables to mimic Christmas trees and our florst Nathan at Green NV brought it to life. The florals were absolutely one of my favorite parts of the day.
We spray painted LED candles grey to elevate the look (thank you amazon prime for candles!). We found these frames on Amazon as well and I printed off names of my favorite Christmas songs for the table names.
OUR CAKE. IT WAS A SWEATER. Our friend Doug Orr made my dreams come to life. I was (and still am) obsessed with it.
My favorite part was the head table. My Nanny (grandma) has collected this red china over the years and having it at our head table was one of my first ideas when I began dreaming of a Christmas wedding. It was both meaningful and magical.
Our seating chart board. . .*sigh*. This was the biggest project (trying hard not to say “pain in my neck” ha!) of the whole wedding. We searched high and low for the perfect fabric, perfect paper, and did all of it our selves. Every piece was even sealed on with our custom wax seal designed by Jenny (Dan’s sister). In the end it was worth every once of work and I loved how it turned out.
About two weeks before the wedding we decided to put together a photo booth! It was just one of those things we kept putting off for later. . . then later came and we decided it was important to us. Now I’m SO glad we did!! We rented furniture from Fancy Fray and bought holiday props at Hobby Lobby. At my moms wedding she had that clear bowl with M&M’s in it so we set it out on the coffee table with lights and greenery and had guests put their Polaroid in it.
The night we got home from our honeymoon we looked through every single polaroid (at about 2 am) and it is one of my favorite memories! We love those images of guests so much!
This marble staircase was one of the things I fell in love with at McKay Tower. I wanted this photograph from the second we toured the venue and it is hand’s down one of my favorite shots!
After we cut our cake we had each of our nieces and nephews pass out Tollhouse cookies on Santa trays. Our DJ announced them as “Santa’s Helpers” and I mean. . . who doesn’t love a Christmas cookie??
Let the dance party begin! Nothing my family loves more than busting a move at a reception! Of course I had to steal Gabby’s camera to get a couple shots of her and David!
And before I knew it the night was over. Our wedding was an absolute dream. Every detail went off without a hitch and I wouldn’t trade any part of it for the world. Writing these posts has been a true joy. They have given me the chance to go back and remember each moment throughout the day. Most of all, I’m just so thankful to be married. It truly is better than I could have ever imagined. Thanks for reading along!
