The end of summer
Another summer has come to a close and oh has it been sweet!! This year will forever go down in the books as a summer filled to the brim with joy. Dan and I were engaged, 3 of my favorite ladies got married, I got to go to Disneyland, and we shot so many fun weddings! Not all seasons of life are filled with this much goodness, but this one sure has been sweet.
Each year we tweak our wedding season strategy. We’ve had crazy busy overwhelming years, slow years, and everything in between. This year it feels like we finally hit our sweet spot. The right amount of weddings, the right amount of help, and it sure was fun!! I am already excited for next season to start up. Truthfully, the biggest shift was in our systems. We created a streamlined workflow that made things efficient and effective on every level. This has now become my very favorite thing to coach other businesses on. I never could have estimated how much utilizing technology and systems would change things and allow us to focus on the parts of photography that we love most. Anyway, all that said, I’m sad that summer is over….but not for long cause I love fall so so much and winter even more hahah!
Dan and I went on two family vacations in September, spent a good amount of time binge watching tv (see below) while I recovered from a bad case of pneumonia, and every day I get more and more excited to be married. I still am not totally sure how I snagged such a hunk. He is sweet, kind, fun and all around amazing. And let’s be honest, we all know I’m marrying up… read the rest of this post for proof of how dorky I am. 😉
Jack Ryan
Have you seen the new Amazon Prime show Jack Ryan? OH MAN it’s so good!! Dan and I got sucked into it when I had pneumonia a couple weeks ago (no better way to get through than binge a new show). We finished it annoyingly quickly (why taunt me with a season of only 8 episodes!! I need at least 22 people!!) and I was legitimately sad when it ended. I’m a show/movie repeater (5 rounds of Alias and I didn’t even blink) so naturally, I asked Dan if we could start it from the beginning…twice…he said no both times. As it turns out, he is not a show repeater. 🙄
Disclaimer Here’s what you need to know. There are 2 or 3 episodes that have scenes you’re going want to skip for some inappropriate content. It’s not consistent through the whole show, just a few moments to cover your eyes. You can usually tell when it’s coming, so if you feel like you may want to start fast forwarding… do it. It also is super gory, so if you aren’t a fan of blood, wounds, or anything of that nature maybe pass on this show all together. Or get over it because the show is that good.
I love Jim from The Office and was so impressed to see him in such an intense role. However, I still refer to him as Jim even though his name is obviously JACK RYAN. The biggest shock of the entire show is that Jim (from The Office)’s love interest is actually an Australian rapper in real life. Think I’m kidding, look her up on youtube.
Scented Lotion
I have pretty consistent problems with eczema so a couple years ago I stopped using all lotion except for Cetaphil because all other lotions irritate it. Well, this month I ended up having 2 bottles of lotion given to me and miraculously they haven’t irritated my skin one bit.
The magical part…THEY SMELL SO GOOD. I might start eating it if no one keeps a close eye on me. Not only is my skin softer, I feel like the smell of fall follows me everywhere I go! I do not see this as a problem, haha. I’m obsessed with this one (in the scent “warm and cozy”) and this one.
Thanks for chatting with me on this fine Wednesday. Wishing you a fabulous rest of your week filled with Jack Ryan and fall smelling lotion.
