Transitioning To Fall

The fresh air is feeling like a relief these days. I am very ready for layers, long sleeves, and for leggings to work as a staple piece of a real, well…real-ish outfit. I love putting fall outfits together and for me a loose fitting top and comfy pair of jeans is the start of it all. Not to mention, I’ve changed sizes a bit in 2020 and my summer clothes weren’t fitting me quite right. There is something very refreshing about a new season and a fresh start.

This top from Old Navy is a great transitional piece because the white eyelet ties in the last bit of summer, while the flowy shape and long sleeves start bringing in the warmth fall needs. These jeans are beloved Madewell (of course) and I’ll never stop wearing these shoes. A quick note about them, I saved up and bought them after eyeing them for over a YEAR…and that was in 2017. They have only gotten better with time and I never tire of wearing them. They are classic and go with everything, but still have a little flair. Sometimes it’s worth saving up for the classic yet quirky thing you know you’ll get your use out of.

Did you guys have a good Memorial Day? Dan and I spent it hopping between both sides of our families and working on home projects (including convincing my sister in law to paint her living room one afternoon ha!). I spent time Thursday and Friday of last week preparing for the shorter week this week and I can’t tell you what a difference it made. Normally hopping into the week on a Tuesday feels rushed and chaotic and instead yesterday felt right on track. We ended the day with a mini celebration for my home care nurse who is retiring. She has been taking care of me (bi-weekly blood draws and answering every question, text, phone call under the sun) since I was 6! 18 years and she feels like family, what a blessing she is. Her retirement felt like a reason to get the whole fam jam together and eat some cheese cake! We’ve got a rainy week ahead so I might just spend it on the couch eating more cheesecake ◡̈ .
