While January felt like the longest month of my life, February has flown by! I’ve been deep into a few exciting business projects (stay tuned!!) and they have been sucking up my days! We are also more settled into our apartment, and I’ve gotten back into the swing of working out. I think I am officially back into a normal rhythm of life and it feels good! Here are the things I’ve been loving this month!
A friend of mine who is an AWESOME cook gave me this book as a wedding gift and said that it was what taught her everything! I haven’t made many recipes from it yet, but I have read straight through over half the book! I am SUCKED IN. I’m contemplating trying to cook my way through the book (Julie & Julia style) and blogging along the way (#original). Each chapter covers a basic recipe she believes you need to know how to make without looking at a recipe, and that you can make in a million different variations. Just reading it I have learned so much! Dan and I are still finding our rhythm with cooking dinner at the end of a workday so we rotate between this cookbook, crockpot meals, and Trader Joes frozen meals.
Working from Coffee Shops
I think this is part of what has saved me this month! Getting out of my apartment, getting a change of scenery, and having background noise! I’ve gotten far more done on these days!
Yoga
There is a yoga studio on the corner of my street and it has been such a blessing! I’ve been doing a few classes a week either at lunchtime or at the end of my workday and I. am. hooked. It has been the perfect little break to get some fresh air, stretch my body, and challenge myself with something new.
Reading
Dan and I have spent a lot of time reading this year and I am loving it. We will watch a show in the evening most nights and then designate “read time” before bed. We used to spend our evenings driving home from hanging out and now that we live together it feels like we have SO MUCH FREE TIME. It’s the best! I am flying through books and am going to do a “recent reads” post soon! I forgot how relaxing it is to have my hands on an actual hard copy book, rather than just doing audio books all the time! We are loving spending evenings wandering through book stores.
Bullet Journalling
You already know that I am an avid journaler, but this month I’ve had a few different “prompts” I’ve kept up with for the month, as well as daily. I’ve always been afraid of the phrase “bullet journaling” because it felt intense, structured, and not something I was committed enough to do. But the other day when I was telling my friend Meredith (a bullet journaler that I admire!) about these pages I had set up in my journal she said “Katie, that IS bullet journaling! It is whatever works for you!” Post about this coming soon as well! This is the journal that I have been loving!
Target Spring Home Decor
I could wander those isles forever. I am obsessed with Leanne Ford and was pumped when I heard she was getting a line at Target! Her style is just something I am really drawn to, and I can’t wait to see if she expands the collection to more than just lighting! Hearth & Hand, Project 62 and OpalHouse are also bringing their A-Game! Here are some of my favorite things!
Okay, I love my Airpods every. single. month. But this month I swear I haven’t taken them out of my ears once. Okay maybe that’s an exaggeration but you get the gist. I totally rolled my eyes and mocked airpods when they came out until I tried my dads. Then I saved every little penny to buy these gems and have never looked back. They are everything and MORE.
Trader Joe’s
I have always loved Trader Joes but when GR finally got one it was too far away from my house for me to justify grocery shopping there (by the time I got home my frozen foods weren’t so frozen anymore). Now that we live a little closer, you can find me there every single week! I’m obsessed and there is no looking back! Currently I’m obsessed with their sweet potato gnocchi in butter & sage sauce (in the frozen section, just heat and eat!). Drool worthy! What are your favorite Trader Joe’s finds?
My sister-in-law introduced me to this app about a year ago and to be honest, I didn’t’ love it. Well when my friend Meredith moved to Arkansas at the start of the year she convinced me to give it another run and I’m so glad she did! We talk on it almost every single day and it has closed the gap of states like a dream! I’m so thankful for technology!!
Wearing Hats to the Gym
K, things are getting weird now… but this actually has been a favorite this month. I always see people at the gym wearing hats and think “well that looks sweaty and claustrophobic”. Well BOY was I wrong. Y’ALL this is where it’s at!! I wore a baseball hat the other day because it was cold outside and I was too cold when I got inside to take it off. For some reason it is oddly cozy and makes you feel like you are in your own little bubble. It feels private like I can focus on my own workout (I have serious #gymtimidation) and makes me not look around as much. I’m 100% certain this is all in my head, but I just saying don’t knock it till ya try it!
On the business side of things, February was a big month because we were prepping to launch our new website and all new branding. You may be thinking “didn’t you just re-brand a year ago?” and yes, yes we did. We realized very quickly that 1. Our new website was not functioning (poor purchasing choice on my part. We were stuck with no customer service and no way to fix it) 2. The branding fit was a style that we liked, but not one that felt true to my personality. It may be another post for another day, but basically we decided to go with our guts and re-brand in a way that felt colorful and joyful – the way we want to feel on wedding days! It feels so good and it is so fun to have the new site out into the world! Swing by and check it out! We’ve also launched a whole new side of the website where we can help encourage and equip other boss babes to grow and scale their businesses through free education! We are so excited about this!!
Well that is all until next months odd collection of favorite things! What did you love this month?
