Happy Tuesday! I have been trying to convince my Mom to do a guest post for a while now and am excited to say she finally agreed! She is here today to talk about a subject very close to both of our hearts: Fixer Upper. We take our HGTV very seriously in this family. Without further ado (and yes, we did just spend a solid amount of time googling how to spell “ado”) lets turn things over to my Mom!
Make-over stories have always been my favorite kinds of stories. I love watching people help other people with transformations, The Biggest Loser, What not to Wear, and now, we have some major make-over’s coming out of Waco Texas! These two, with the help of a very large crew, have the ability to take something know one wants, and transform it into something we would all take in a heartbeat!
First up, the answers to some burning questions:
What is Joanna’s ethnicity? Her mother is Korean and her father is American. She did, however, play Pocahontas in her high school play.
Do the home owners get to keep everything in the house when finished? It seems like some things are in to stay, like light fixtures, and others are for staging. She will usually say ” I purchased this for the homeowners” or, we are “staging” for the final reveal.
What is shiplap? an overlapping joint, as a rabbet, between two boards joined edge to edge.
I think my favorite rooms at the reveal are the dining areas!
Joanna’s style carries through in her homes and clothing. Timeless, classic and simple, and we all love it! Her details are cozy and can easily be put together. Most surfaces have a combination of books, candles, and greenery. My three favorite things to decorate with.
If you don’t already know, there is a new episode airing tonight at 9 on HGTV! Check it out!

A huge thanks to my mom for guest posting today! I would also like to add that my mom has been a killer decorator since waaaaay before Fixer Upper first aired! We frequently are watching and see ideas that have been in my Moms house for years! She’s pretty cool like that. Hope you have a wonderful day!
