“Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe”
I was at the reception of a wedding the first time I heard this phrase. It was mixed into a speech but immediately caught my attention. I’ve never heard so many thoughts summed up so simply. Since hearing it I have thought about it in different ways almost every day. Since then I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried Periscope and this quote became even more real. Not sure how these correlate? We’ll get into that in a minute. This whole big deal has really shifted my view of self-confidence, being comfortable in your own skin, and pursuing the purpose the Lord has instilled in you. Let’s break it down now…
Your Vibe: In Life
I truly believe with all of my heart that there is no beauty greater than authenticity. I am instantly drawn to people who are genuine and confident. Honest, raw, and not perfect! These people are a light to be around and I am endlessly blessed by the people in my life who are like this. So basically if everyone was authentic the world would be a better place, right? Right. So why aren’t we? What makes us hide behind veils and cover areas of our life? I think the answer always goes back to worrying about what other people think. We let opinions influence us. Even more so, we are influenced by what we think opinions will be.
Your Tribe: In Life
Here is the fact truth: If you are authentic to yourself, you will attract people who have similar interests, passions, and beliefs. These people will not have offensive opinions, they will not judge, and they will not harm your self-esteem. Why? Because these people will be in the same mindset as you. On the flip side, if we continue to put up walls and hide behind things, we will attract people who do the same thing. Suddenly we become self-conscious of what we say, do, and believe. When I think about it like this, it seems way easier to just be myself from the get-go and attract people like myself. Your vibe attracts your tribe.
Your Tribe: In Business
In a world of Social Media, it is so easy to compare every area of your business to another business. Things become trendy or popular it becomes easy to slip into another style (one that is not true to you) without even noticing. “Well that business is successful so they are doing it right” If you have thought that before, you are not alone! The truth is that each business is unique, each clientele is unique, and each definition of success is unique. So just because something is working for them, does not mean it will work for you.
Your Tribe: In Business
I would be willing to bet that one of the reasons you became a business owner is so that you can work with people you like. Well the only way to attract people you like, is to be yourself. It’s as simple as that. Let’s get back to Periscope. I have had some ideas in my head for quite some time now that I would like to blog about. Instead of actually putting pen to paper I worried about what my reader response would be. Would people enjoy it? Would people think it’s weird and pointless? After hearing this phrase, it occurred to me that the only way to attract readers who want to read those posts is to write those posts. When I did my first Periscope I was terrified that people wouldn’t watch and that it would be just me sitting, talking to my phone. #awkward. But people came. They listened to what Kristin and I had to say, and they proved that this phrase is true. If you put out a vibe that is true to your heart (try to restrain yourself from breaking out into the Mulan soundtrack) and authentic to you, you will attract people who want to hear what you have to say! Similar minded people!
This, my friends, is what fills my heart. Being with people who have similar minds. Learning from each other, encouraging each other, and pushing each other forward. I feel like there are a million more things I could say about this topic, but we will save that for another time. For now just remember, “your vibe attracts your tribe”.
